So often we are so busy trying to keep ourselves going that
we feel that we have nothing to spare for others. As we
struggle to live within our budget we should realise that
there are others with no budget at all.

There are those whose resources are so low that all they can
hope for is to survive today. How easily we write them off.
How easily we pass them by on the street.

There are those who have had a hard day, whose stock of
patience has run out, whose faith in human kindness is in
doubt. When you meet anyone like this it\'s the time to ask
\"How can I make a difference?\" A friendly greeting, a kindly
word can make a world of difference.

Now I am not saying that we should all give money to those
less fortunate than ourselves But just imagine how they must
feel. Let\'s not care right now whose fault it is, and that they
are possibly just too downright lazy to get a job.
Try to imagine how you would feel if you were in that position.
And tell me that you haven\'t, at times, felt like giving up.
Just chucking it all in. Those times when it seems like you will
never win.
There is a gift that you can freely give. A gift that costs
little more than taking your attention off yourself and
focussing it on others. It is the gift of recognition, the gift
of acknowledging a fellow human being no matter what their
position in life is.
When you meet others who are in need, just ask yourself this
simple question \"How can I make a difference?\"
Make it a personal challenge today and everyday to see how
many people you can make a difference to. How many people
will be happier today because they met you? Ask yourself
\"How can I make a difference?\" This poem should help.

Since we have but just one life to live,
let\'s make this living glad.
In spite of all there is to fear,
and all that makes us sad.
Let joy and happiness abound,
let laughter and song resound.
Give what you can to whom you can,
and every blessing share.
Give freely of your self, my friend,
and show you really care.
For the more you give, the more you get.
The more you laugh, the less you fret.
The more you do unselfishly,
the more you\'ll live abundantly.
The more you love, the more you\'ll find,
that life is good and friends are kind.
For only what we give away,
enriches us from day to day.

Realise that you do make a difference, you influence everyone
you meet, you have the choice to either make their day or to
spoil their day. But this you must know, you cannot do unto
others without doing unto yourself. So choose to be kind to
yourself by being kind to others. Choose to love yourself by
loving others. Choose to make yourself happy by making
others happy. Choose to make a difference in your life by
making a difference in the lives of others.
But whatever the situation facing you, remember this
question \"How can I make a difference?\"
